North America and Europe are generally considered as mature markets. Traffic is still growing but at a slower rate than in other regions of the world. There are still opportunities for airlines to launch new routes and increase frequency on existing routes but as a mature market, there is significant competition. However, that competition also presents an opportunity due to the volume of airports competing for business.
Emerging aviation markets include India and China and large parts of Africa are the largest growth markets for aviation.
Traffic demand is not a static metric due to global social, environmental, economic, and political issues.
